Communication from the IRS is typically initiated via the U.S. Postal Service. Be skeptical of any phone calls, emails, social media messages or texts claiming to be from the IRS, or other government agencies. Phishing attacks may be on the rise, but there are steps you can take to protect yourself. Always practice good email hygiene! When opening an email, take 20 seconds to thoroughly ‘scrub’ the email for suspicious activity.
